Bennett was the son of Louis Easterling & Rebecca (Eiland) Easterling. He moved with his family to Pickens Co., AL before 1850 and married Mary Anne Elizabeth Hicks about 1854. They had seven children:Emma Amanda(Clark), Fernetta Holmes (Newland), James, Bennett Homer, William Henry, Sarah Letitia (Bigham) and Carrie Donia (Kerby).
He served in the CSA Co D, 8 Conf Regiment of Calvary and lost his right arm in the war.
In 1870 they moved to Henderson Co.,Texas and purchased 136 acres of land near Athens. He and his son, Bennett, died of malaria and were buried on their farm. We have been unable to locate their graves.
