Maxine Beck Dustin, 84, was born March 30, 1928, in Ovid, to Jennie Louise orter Beck and Leon Anders Beck. She returned to them and many other family members on Friday, April 20, from her home in Garden City, Utah, due to complications of aging.

Maxine married Ariel Millard Dustin on December 12, 1949. That marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. Together they had eight children: Linda Grimaud (Henry), Louise Jefferies (Dana), Cindy Funderburk (Mark), Hyrax Blair, Kevin (Danene), Karen Bowen, Matthew and Julie Andersen (Denzil). Maxine was a proud grandmother to 27 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, with one on the way, as well as an adoring stepmother to both Roland and Jim Dustin.

An avid walker, Maxine spent the majority of her life in Garden City, a place extremely dear to her heart. She absolutely adored her home and the doting neighbors that cared for her throughout the years. After retiring from North Rich schools, Maxine worked at the Bear Lake Motor Lodge until she was 79 years of age. She loved to read and wrote consistently in her journal. She had a quick wit which kept her family on their toes. She especially loved her position on the Garden City Cemetery Board.

Maxine will be missed by her surviving children, grand children, great-grandchildren and sister, Noreen Beck Hansen. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ariel; son, Hyrax Blair (H.B.) and daughter, Linda Dustin Grimaud. Other family members that have passed away during Maxine's life are her parents and siblings: Junior, Veriel, Sherrill, Phyllis and Dale.

Funeral Services were held April 24. Interment was in the Garden City Cemetery.

The family would like to express thanks to the devoted community of Garden City who extended so much love to Maxine during her lifetime. A special thanks to Dr. Michael Francis and the community health care professionals, Karen, at Access Health Care and Gudrun at Caring Hands Health Care, as well as her devoted grandchildren, JaCoy, Adam and Samantha.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Garden City Library or take a walk on the path.
