Lloyal Howard Conn, 89, of McAlester, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011, at a local nursing center. Born Jan. 28, 1922, in McAlester, he was the son of Edward and Bonnie (Anthony) Conn. He grew up in Tannehill and graduated from Indianola High School. He moved to the Detroit area and worked for the Bowers Roller Bearing Company for a number of years as a plant tool inspector. After his retirement he returned to McAlester in 1978. He married Maurine (Weeks) Barnes on June 21, 1979, in McAlester. He had served in the United States Army Air Corp during World War II and was honorably discharged as a sergeant. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge while living in Detroit. He was a longtime member of North Town Church of Christ and enjoyed gardening in his spare time. Survivors include his wife, Maurine Conn, of the home; one son, Kenneth Conn, of Holdenville; one stepson and stepdaughter, Richard Barnes, of McAlester, and Carol Barnes, of Muskogee; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one stepgrandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Loran, Billy and Don Conn, and two sisters, Hazel (Conn) Traut and Yvonne (Conn) Burns. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Brumley-Mills Chapel with Steve Weeks officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of McAlester. Pallbearers will be Mike Weeks, David Weeks, Danny Conn, Lynn Weeks, Ken Conn Jr. and Walt Weeks. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Brewer, Leo Smith, Bill Coop, Jerry Matthews, W.R. Weeks, Earl Weeks and Jim Allford.
