RITES TUESDAY FOR MRS. BASS
DEATH CAME SUDDENLY, CAUSE BY A BLOOD CLOT FOLLOWING A HIP FRACTURE 10 DAYS PREVIOUS
Mrs. Lillie Bass passed away at the Murphy Memorial Hospital Saturday evening, December 19, from the effects of a blood clot after having suffered a hip fracture ten days before. She was making a nice recovery and was feeling unusually well, when stricken abut 8:30 Saturday evening. Death came immediately.
Funeral services are held Tuesday, December 21, at 2:30 p.m. at the Perryman Chapel with Rev. J. S. Jones of the Baptist Church in charge. Pall bearers were Frank Burdick, C. L. Crouse, Arthur Youngberg, Banner Shay, Dale Petty, and Luther Peters. The music was a duet by Mrs. Fred Shields and Tom Morgan, with Miss Mabelle Reimers as accompanist. The flowers were Mrs. Dale Petty and Mrs. Arthur Youngberg. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery.
Lillie Miller was born July 25, 1866 in Illinois, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Miller. She ws married in 1921 to Judson Adoniram Bass, who survives her. She is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Margaret Brown of Hutchinson, Kansas, who was here for the funeral and a niece Mrs. Eva Van Zandt of Nickerson, Kansas.
After their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Bass lived in Kansas City, Missouri and in Nebraska before coming to Red Oak in 1936 to make their home. Mrs. Bass was a member of the Baptist Church.
