Mrs. J. A. Bass died Thursday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the family home at 409 Joy Street, after an illness of several months.
Pauline Waterhouse was born November 4, 1859 at Walnut, Illinois and was married to Judson Adoniram Bass on December 25, 1878 To this union five children were born, They are, Mrs Lulu Sedam, Howard, and George Bass, Mrs. Vera Shields, and Paul Bass, all of Red Oak Besides the husband and children, Mrs. Bass leaves two sisters and three brothers to mourn her death. One sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Chapman of Davenport, has been here the past three weeks, assisting in the care of Mrs. Bass.
Mrs. Bass and the family have made their hoe in Montgomery County for the past 24 years residing for a tube rod years on their farm north of Red Oak, later moving into the city to make their home. She united with the Baptist Church at the age of 16. She was also a member of the W.R.C.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the residence, 409 Joy Street. Rev. Richmond Smith of the Baptist Church had charge of the services, assisted by Rev. Wm. Archie. The friends who acted as pall bearers were F. B. Shancks, W. H. Stafford, A. R. Tracy, David E. Jones, L. M. Beardsley, and I. O. Butler Burial was in the Red Oak Cemetery. Mrs. Ida M. Chapman of Chicago and Joseph Waterhouse and daughter, Mabel of Walnut, Illinois, sister and brother, and niece of Mrs. Bass arrived Saturday to attend the funeral.

Pauline Bass was born to Joseph Waterhouse (b. Lancashire, England in 1820, d. Bureau C., IL in 1885) and Catherine McCann (b. Dundalk, Ireland in 1832, d. June 2, 1900 in Bureau Co., IL). The immigrated to the US @1843.
