Mr. A.A. Grasselli was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, August 24, 1845; died in Kansas City, Missouri, Thursday, August 8, 1921, after an illness lasting many months.

Mr. Grasselli's boyhood days were spent in Cincinnati. Ohio, where he attended city schools. Later he attended the University of Massachusetts, and after spending four years on the Atlantic coast, he spent some time on the Pacific and Mediterranean coast. In the spring of 1870, in the company of O.F. Williams of Rochester, New York, he came to Kansas he held his homestead the remainder of his life. The first fifteen years he spent on a ranch twenty miles northwest of Eureka and later he bought property in Eureka. Since that time the family residence has been in Eureka.

He was married January 12, 1871, to Josephine Hass of Dansyville, New York. Mrs. Grasselli died September 10, 1916 in Los Angeles, where Mr. Grasselli had taken her in the hope that the change would benefit her health.

Five children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Grasselli, two of whom survive, Mrs. Fredereke Parmeries, wife of Mr. John Parmerice of Eureka, Kansas and one son, Eugene Grasselli, also of Eureka and nine grandchildren, one brother and two sisters, living in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Funeral services were held from the beautiful home in western Eureka at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon, September 11, 1921, conducted by Rev. A.W. Pannell, minister-in-charge of St. Thomas Episcopal Church. The large number attending and the quantities of beautiful floral offerings attested in some measure the friendship of many of Eureka where Mr. Grasselli spent the last years of his life. The Knights of Pythias Lodge attended the funeral in a body and had charge of the services in Greenwood Cemetery where burial was made.
