Notes [the following notes document the reasons for my revision of the list of Joan's children]
(PR = parish register)

1. Thomas and Joan's married 21 Jan 1572/3 (Crewkerne PR) in the old style dating. In the current calendar it is 1573.

Thomas (sr) is usually referred to as Thomas "the younger" as he was sometimes called in Crewkerne parish register entries. The register also calls him Thomas Hull Junior is records for his children. His half-brother, Thomas "the elder", also lived in Crewkerne where he was buried in 1612.

2. Elinor Hull was not the daughter of Thomas and Joan. Some old family histories incorrectly attribute Elinor to this family. She was the half sister of Thomas the younger, born before 1540. She is named as co-executor of the 1559 will of her father, Richard.

3. Thomas and Joan apparently lived in Winsham (6 miles SW of Crewkerne) for the first few years of their marriage as evidenced by baptisms of their first two children:

a. William was baptized 6 Nov 1574 (Winsham PR)
b. Mary was baptized 25 Sep 1576 (Winsham PR)

4. The baptism of their third child, Agnes, is not recorded, but she was buried at Crewkerne in 1579 (Crewkerne PR).

5. Richard (1579-1597), the son of Thomas and Joan, was baptized 21 Nov 1579 and buried 27 Mar 1597 (Crewkerne PR).
Richard Hull (1599-1662) is not related to the Crewkerne Hulls. He emigrated to New Haven, Connecticut.

6. Robert Hull was baptized 8 Nov 1584 and buried 5 Apr 1597 (Crewkerne PR), 9 days after his brother Richard was buried.
Old inaccurate genealogies for Robert HILL (of Wiveton, Norfolk, England) conflated him with Robert HULL of Crewkerne. This is reflected in the fictional Find A Grave memorial for Robert Francis Hill (1584-1657) connected to the profiles of Thomas and Joan (see below). The Crewkerne parish register documents baptism and burial dates for Robert HULL.

7. Thomas Hull (jr) was baptized 21 July 1582 (Crewkerne PR).

8. There is only one Francis Hull (note Francis and Frances) who was baptized 13 Feb 1592 (Crewkerne PR).

9. The dates of death for Thomas jr and Francis are not known. Genealogists often report the deaths as "before 20 May 1627" when their brother William wrote his will. William mentioned his living siblings but did not name Thomas and Francis. The 1636 will of their father, Thomas, does not name them either. Phyllis J Hughes (retired Hull Family Association genealogist) notes the absence of marriage and burial records for them, concluding "it is likely both passed away much earlier" (Hull Family Association Journal 13/1, Spring 2002, 10-11). I marked Thomas and Francis deceased in the revised list of Thomas and Joan's children.

10. Joseph (1594-1665) and "Joshua" (1597-1665) are mixed together in your original list. The 10th and 11th children of Thomas and Joan were both named Joseph.
a. Joseph-1 was baptized 30 March 1594 ("Josephe") and buried 15 April 1595 ("Josias"). The Crewkerne parish register used two different versions of his name.
b. Joseph-2 was baptized 25 April 1596. He is the Rev. Joseph Hull who died in Maine in 1665.

___________

The note in the memorial "the same year of her [Joan's] death 3 of her children emigrated to America" should be updated. Various inaccuracies have been stated in family histories about the Crewkerne Hulls. Of Joan's children, only George and Joseph emigrated to America. The Richard Hull who emigrated is not from Crewkerne.

The date of George's emigration to America is not known, though many older books claim he was on the "Mary and John" that departed 30 March 1629/30 (1630). George first appears in New England when he was made a freeman on 4 Mar 1632/3 in the Massachusetts Bay Colony.

The Rev. Joseph Hull left England on 30 Mar 1534/5 (1535).

Perhaps use a statement like "Between the time of Joan's death in 1629 and Thomas' death in 1636, two of their sons emigrated to America where they played prominent roles in the Massachusetts Bay Colony."
___________
Lastly, Robert Francis Hill (no. 159912779) is not the son of Thomas and Joan. He lived in the village of Wiveton in Norfolk where he was buried in 1642. He has nothing to do with the Hulls of Crewkerne, but some "family histories" conflated him with Robert Hull, who died at age 12, and is buried in Crewkerne. An entire mythology has grown up around Robert Hill (who had no middle name).

A Hill family emigrated to Virginia in the 17th-century. The immigrant ancestor has also been incorrectly connected to Robert Hill of Wiveton. The origin of the immigrant in England has not been located. The two documented sons of Robert Hill of Wiveton died as children.
