Aunt Edna became very sick and knew of her coming death, though we have never learned of what the illness was. Her husband John, at the time was a bit on the wild side and liked to drink some, but he always took care of Edna and Juanita, taking pride in the pretty baby girl he had been given. Later in life, he became a Baptist preacher.
Sometime during her illness, Edna had asked her older sister Maude to please look out for Juanita. Aunt Edna died when Juanita was only around 3 years old. Instead of just making sure Juanita was ok, Maude took her away from her father and adopted her. Uncle John L. didn't have the money to fight her.
Aunt Maude & Uncle Lon lived in Savannah, GA.
Uncle John L. is buried in Brunswick, GA

Another of Edna's older sisters was my G-Grandmother, Willie Jo.
