Lansing M. Byers, Sr., 70, of 804 Walnut Street, Oolitic, passed away at 9:05 p.m. Monday, October 30, 1972 at Dunn Memorial Hospital where he was admitted a few minutes earlier. He had been ill a short time.
He was born May 27, 1902 in Oolitic, son of Gert and Claudia Gainey Byers, and was married to Gladys George on February 11, 1924 in Brownstown.
He was a retired foreman of Indiana Limestone Company.
Surviving beside the wife are two sons, Lansing, Jr., and Claude, both of Bedford; six grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Reed (Nina) Anderson of Shelbyville; one brother, Noble Byers, 1405 M Street, Bedford; and one aunt, Mrs. Nora Brazzel, Bedford. A sister, Tryphema Webster, preceded him in death.
He was a member of the Bedford Baptist Church.
Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday from the Elmwood Chapel of Day & Carter Mortuary, Rev. George Young officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Friends may call after 7:00 p.m. today at the mortuary.
