10:30 PM Thursdayin the E. B. Crowe Community Hospital, where he
entered May 27 … He had been ill for several years …
He was born March 4, 1894, in Lawrence County to Girtey and Claudia
Gainey Byers… He married Lula Anna Patton April 23, 1919, and she survives …
He retired from the Naval Weapons Support Center, Crane, in 1963.. He was a
member of the First Christian Church and a veteran of World War I ….
Surviving with the wife is one son, Doyle Byers of Bedford and one daughter,
Mrs. Lee (Norma June) Hutchinson of Route# 1, Mitchell ; four grandchildren
and seven great grandchildren ….
He was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother ….
Services will be at 3:30 PM Saturday in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day and Carter
Mortuary, with the Rev. James Miller officiating ….
Burial will vbe in the Green Hill Cemetery with graveside military rites accorded
by members of the Gillen Post# 33 of Bedford …..
Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 – 9 PM today, and from 9 AM
to the time of service Saturday ….
