Willie M. Spence Sr., 84, of the 1900 block of Millville Court, a retired farmer, died Nov. 20, 1993, in Chesapeake General Hospital.
He was born in South Mills, N.C.
Survivors include his wife, Mary M. Spence; four daughters, Louise Spence of New York, Jacqueline Gregory, Brenda Spence and Patricia Longacre, all of Chesapeake; three sons, Willie Spence Jr. of New York City, Alexander D. Smith and Cornell N. Spence, both of Chesapeake; three sisters, Annie Sawyer of Philadelphia, Ellen Jordan and Marchy Owens, both of Chesapeake; two brothers, Cizar Spence of Philadelphia and James Spence of Portsmouth; 26 grandchildren; a mother-in-law, Julia Tanner of Chesapeake; five sisters-in-law; eight nephews; seven nieces; and a host of cousins, friends and other relatives.
A funeral will be at 1 p.m. today in the New First Baptist Church Taylorsville and will be conducted by Dr. T.M. Steele. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Park, Portsmouth. Viewing will be held at the church today from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The family will assemble at the residence, 1912 Millville Court, Chesapeake, today at noon for the processional. Serenity Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
