Cynthia Burch, daughter of Chester and Mary Burch was born in Otsego township, Steuben county, Indiana, February 7, 1839. She had three sisters and four brothers, one of whom died in early childhood; and she is survived by only one brother, Asa Burch of East Gilead, Mich.

She was united in marriage with George Rummel at the home of her parents, October 14, 1855. They began housekeeping in Hamilton, Ind., and after two years spent there they moved to the farm which is now owned by George Cassel on the Angola and Hamilton road. Here they lived for about fifty years and developed it into one of the best farms in the county. In 1904 they moved to the home near the fairground, north of Angola where he died fourteen years ago.

There were seven children in their family: Mrs. Stella Bassett and Mrs. Alma Abbott, both of Fremont, Ind.; George Rummel of Battle Creek, Mich.; Cyrus Rummel of Rivers Junction, Mich.; Mrs. Charles Irvin of Angola; William Rummel of Ray, Ind.; and Shirley Rummel, who died in Clarkston, Wash. in 1918.

On August 14, 1854, seventy-six years ago, Mrs. Rummel was converted and baptized into at the Church of Christ at Metz in a meeting held by Elder Robert Moffett, one of the ablest preachers of the church at that time. She united with the church there where her husband had his membership and later when the church was organized at South Scott, they became charter members there. When they moved to their home in in Angola, they attended the church at Fairview as long as their failing strength would permit it.

About six years ago she suffered a stroke of paralysis. This was followed by others and in consequence of these afflictions she had two dangerous and painful falls. For the last four years she has been confined to the home of her daughter, Mrs. Stella Bassett in Fremont, where she received the faithful care of a devoted daughter. Through all her long and painful illness she was patient and uncomplaining. She passed on to the better world on Sunday, November 30, 1930 at 10:00 a.m., aged 91 years, 9 months, and 23 days.

She leaves of her immediate family, her brother, Asa; her six children, twelve grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild, together with other relatives, and many neighbors and friends who will cherish the memory of a good mother, a kind neighbor, and a faithful friend.

Funeral services were conducted at South Scott church by Elder J. O. Rose, Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 and the burial was in the cemetery there.
