Ray Ervin Lanning was the son of John Stephens Lanning, and Edy (Edie) Grubbs, he was born 1893 in Eldorado, Oklahoma. Ray and Annie Brock were married in Quanah, Texas, and lived in Eldorado, and Olustee, Oklahoma. Ray was disabled because of a Gin accident, and passed away from heart disease in 1954, he was only sixty one years old.

I can't remember a time that my Grandfather Ray Lanning was well, as a child I would sit on the floor and play paper dolls in his house shoes, he was a wonderful man, I wish my children could have met him, my father Steve Lanning reminded me of him, that was a long time ago, but that is what memories are for. His Funeral Services was at the Church of Christ, in Olustee, Oklahoma. I can't remember our family with any other funeral home, this was the pamplet from Tims Funeral Home in Altus, Oklahoma.

Crossing The Bar
Sunset and Evening Star; and one clear call for me. And may there be no moaning at the bar When I put out to Sea, For tho' from out our bourne of time and place. The flood may bear me far, I hope to see my Pilot--Face to Face, When I have Crossed the Bar.
