A physician to Andrew Jackson as noted in a letter from Andrew Jackson, Sr., while in Washington, D.C., addressed to his son, Andrew Jackson, Jr., dated 19 August 1829. A footnote of the letter included the middle name, Blythe, in the reference to Dr. Miles Blythe McCorkle.

Was a TN state congressman 1841-1843, and a trustee of Cumberland University.

Buried in Cedar Grove Cemetery according to source: Tennessee Records: Tombstone Inscriptions and Manuscripts By Jeannette Tillotson Acklen, p. 288.

Birth is estimated to be in 1793, the date his mother died.

[Some incorrectly assign another woman as his mother, however having the name "Blythe" as his middle name, as noted by the footnote in a letter referenced above, strongly suggests that the maiden name of his mother was "Blythe", the first of three wives of his father, William McCorkle.]
