Charles Bowers Rites on Thursday

Charles W. Bowers, a teacher turned rubber worker, died Sunday in Akron General Hospital after three weeks’ illness.

He was 73 and lived at 1078 Herberich Av.

Mr. Bowers was born in Washington County, O., and began his career teaching in the public schools there.

Later he joined the Firestone Tire & Rubber Co. and worked in the tire division until his retirement in 1951. He had lived here 43 years.

Mr. Bowers leaves his wife, Bertha E., a daughter, Mrs. Virginia E. Harvey of Cuyahoga Falls, two grandchildren, three sisters, and two brothers.

Last rites will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Billow Akron Chapel. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery.
