He became Deputy Auditor of Washington County on Wednesday, July 1, 1896 following the vacancy caused by the resignation of William Cain. He continued in this position until either 1913 or 1914 when he became Auditor for the City of Marietta. By 1922 he was the Accountant for the Safe Cabinet Company of Marietta, and by 1943 he was a Salesman.
He was a Republican politically and was listed among the members of the Republican County Committee for Washington County, Ohio in 1906.
He married Elizabeth Farrell on October 6, 1897 in Washington County, Ohio. Together they had 3 children: Alfred Dewey (1898-), Catherine (1905-) and Francis Ronald (1907-).
Elizabeth died on October 6, 1919 from "Cancer of the Uterus". George never remarried.
on July 12, 1946 he accidentally fell into the Sandusky Bay and drowned. He was 70 years old.
