Martha Jensine Petersen was born in Denmark to Peter Hendrik 'Jens' and Maren Kirstine Nielsdatter Petersen on February 27, 1875. She came to the United States in 1902 arriving in New York city on March 20, 1902 along with her brother Julius and soon to be husband Lorenz "Lon" Boysen. They left New York City and headed to Laurel, Nebraska where Lon had been living for sometime and were soon married. The couple had six children one of whom died as an infant. Martha was survived by her other five children Friedrich Glen, Martin Christian, Cecelia Mabel, Boyd Julius and Lawrence Petersen Boysen.
