Lorenz "Lon" Boysen was born February 27, 1861 in the hotly contested portion of Denmark "Schleswig" that is now part of Germany. As a young man of 27 Lon came to the United States arriving in New York City on the SS Werra on March 15, 1888. Lon lived in various areas of the country before settling in Laurel, Nebraska. In early 1902 Lon left Nebraska and traveled back to Denmark where he joined his soon to be wife Martha J Petersen and her brother Julius Niels Petersen and brought them back to Laurel with him arriving in New York City on March 20, 1902. Soon after arriving in Laurel from this journey Lon and Martha were united in marriage. They continued to live in Cedar County, Nebraska where they raised their faimly of five children Friederich Glen, Martin Christian, Boyd Julius, Lawrence Petersen and one daughter Cecelia Mabel. One child died as an infant. Lon was survived by his wife Martha and five children.
