Obituary from The Savannah Morning News, March 29, 1951, Page 2:

"SWAINSBORO, Ga., March 28---- Mr. Jackson Purdue of Kite, died at 6:30pm in a local hospital, after being ill for three weeks. He was 84 years of age, born September 9, 1866 in Jefferson County.
His father was the late Jackie Purdue and his mother was the late Margaret Beasley Purdue, both of Jefferson County.
He is survived by his wife, the former Annie Lee Davis of Kite, two sons, Sim W. Purdue of Batesville, SC and Dan J. Purdue of Adrian; two daughters, Mrs. John J. Thompson of New London, Conn. and Mrs. Billy Tyler of Lakeland, Fla.; one brother, H. D. Purdue of Wrens; one step-son, Lee Copland of Lakeland, Fla. Funeral services will be held at 3pm Friday at Minton's Chapel Church with the Reverend Lawrence Houston and the Reverend Grady Brantley officiating.
Burial will be in the Minton Chapel Cemetery. Swainsboro Mortuary is in charge of arrangements."
