WOMAN THROWN FROM WAGON. Mrs. Eliza Spooner, an elderly woman living on the Unity road, met a sudden death last Thursday afternoon by being thrown out of her carriage while on her way to the funeral of a neighbor, and receiving injuries from which she died the following Saturday. Mrs Spooner was driving from her home to Frank A. Reed's about a mile away, to attend the funeral of Miss Mary B. Whittier. Upon reaching the Dewey place, only a short distance from her destination the horse for some unknown reason became unmanageable and began to buck. Mrs. Spooner called to Miss Jennie Dewey for assistance, but the horse bolted, turned into Mr. Reed's yard, and threw the woman out. She struck her head on a stone, crushing the skull, breaking one arm in three places and the other in one, She never recovered consciousness, although she continued to breath until Saturday morning. She would have been 74 years old next month and was the widow of Hiram Spooner. She was the mother of twelve children, all of whom reached maturity, and all are living. The sixth, Mrs. Marcia Farrer, died two years ago. The funeral services were held at the house on the Unity road on Tuesday afternoon and were largely attended. All of her children, eleven in number, were present, besides a brother, nephews and nieces, and several grandchildren. Her six sons, Joseph C., Hiram D., Isaac, Porter C., Gilbert, and George Spooner, were the bearers. Rev. Mr. White, who officiated, spoke very feelingly. Interment was in the family lot in Maple Street Cemetery.
