Israel married his first wife Mary Wheat 27 August 1839 or 1840 in Clarksville, Red River, Republic of Texas (Source: Israel Boren (Pvt., W. B. Dagley's Co. G, Col. Wm. Said to have been born in Alabama in 1823, Mary was the mother of eight children. She died 6 February 1854 or 1855 (Mexican War Survivor's pension application 13853) and was buried at Snow Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. His second wife was Elizabeth Ann Little. She and Israel were married 30 January 1873 in Washington County, Arkansas, and had four children. Elizabeth died about 1911 in the Arkansas town of West Fork.
