MRS. L. A. POTEET DIES AT HOME ON EAST MESA
The community was shocked this morning when the announcement was made of the death of Harriett Greenlee Poteet, aged 44 years, wife of L. A. Poteet, deputy state game warden and for many years prominently identified in many business enterprises in Florence and vicinity. Mrs. Poteet suffered a serious attack of influenza three years ago at which time her life was held in the balance for several days. Since that time she had been in failing health with extremely low vitality, but she kept up valiantly and bore her sufferings with great fortitude. Everything that could be done in the way of medical treatment was administered without avail. At times her condition showed improvement, but later on she again lost ground.
Deceased was stricken with a severe heart and stomach attack last week and her condition became extremely alarming Saturday night and Sunday. She was slightly improved yesterday morning and the members of the family were hopeful but she grew worse as evening advanced and the end came at 4 a. m. this morning with all the members of the family present.
Mrs. Poteet was born in Marion, N. C. March 13, 1878, and had been a resident of Colorado for seventeen years. She was united in marriage to L. A. Poteet February 11, 1905 and she is survived by her husband and four sons, Charles, Frank, Howard and James, of Florence and four step-children, Murray and Abner Poteet of Portland, Mrs Clayton Hollifield of Penrose and Artie Poteet of Florence.
Deceased was a member of the Presbyterian church, of Penrose, and her friends are numbered by her acquaintances. She was a woman of fine Christian character; devoted to her home and family and possessing a heart overflowing with generosity, kindness and consideration.
The funeral will be held from the Presbyterian church Thursday, July 27, at 10 o'clock a. m. under the direction of Rev. W. G. Keiry, of Penrose, assisted by Rev. P. H. Evans of the Baptist church, of Florence. A service for member of the family will be held at the home this evening by Rev. James R. Burchfield previous to his departure on his vacation. Interment will be made in Highland cemetery under the direction of the Campbell Undertaking company.

IMPRESSIVE FUNERAL OF MRS. POTEET
Tender and sympathetic funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church this morning at 10 o'clock which marked the last sad rites over the remains of Mrs. L. A. Poteet, whose sudden death took place at the family home early Tuesday morning. The auditorium of the church was taxed to accommodate the members of the bereaved family and living friends from Florence and all sections of Fremont county, who gathered to pay their respects to the deceased.
The service was conducted by Rev. W. G. Kiery, of Penrose, assisted by Rev. P. H. Evans, of Florence, and was most impressive in character. A multitude of beautiful flowers, which Mrs. Poteet loved so well, banked the casket. They were testimonials of love and e3steem from relatives, neighbors, friends, churches and societies.
A quartet consisting of Mrs. Thos. Evans, Miss Leona Dexter, and Messers E.F. Jack and Duncan McColl rendered two numbers, "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and "There'll be No Night There." Duncan McColl also rendered a solo selection entitled "Face to Face."
The pall bearers were chosen from the large circle of friends of the family and comprised the following: Messrs. W. P. Wilbar, John M. Phillips, E. F. Jack, A. I. Hadley, N. W. McConnell and E. M. McDonald.
A long precession of automobiles filled with friends escorted the remains to the family burial plot in Highland cemetery where interment took place under the direction of the Campbell Undertaking company.
