Son of the late Albert Horace Pierce and Mamie Robinson Pierce, he was preceded in death by his sister, Clara Hagan Pierce; and his wife of nine years, Ora Pope Pierce. A veteran of WWII, he served in the United States Navy. He was a long distant truck driver, who traveled throughout the United States and Canada. He was a member of Faith Independent Baptist Church in Magnolia, NC. He was survived by his wife of 22 years, Maie Bell Bass Pierce; and her children, Sandra Knowles, Mary Millman, Diane Roberts, Henry David Bass and Juanita Wowra; his brother, Eugene Pierce (Martha); and an extended family of relatives. His graveside service was held with military honors at March 23, 2011, with Pastor Ray Kennedy officiating.
