Mr. Arthur Eugene "Gene" Pierce, 85, passed away on Friday evening, August 13, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.

A Memorial Service will be held at Immanuel Baptist Church on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at 11:00 am with Rev. Tim Ameen officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church and other times at his home. A private interment will be held prior to the memorial service on Tuesday morning in Clinton Cemetery.

Born on September 30, 1935 in Duplin County, Gene was the son of the late Horace Pierce and Mamie Robinson Pierce and a veteran of the North Carolina National Guard. He was a dedicated member of Immanuel Baptist Church and an active member of the Clinton Lions Club, while his health permitted. Gene managed Dossenbach Furniture Company for twenty-five years. He then ventured on his own, along with his wife, with M & G Signs and Awning Company. He enjoyed hiking the mountains and canoeing the rivers and lakes of North Carolina. He also was an extremely accomplished artist, by using the Bob Ross Techniques, under the teaching of Norma Moore. Gene was a dedicated Christian man his entire life. He loved his family and treasured spending time with them. He was a hardworking, kind man with a heart of gold and was blessed with a great life. More than anything, Gene loved his precious wife, Martha, whom he adored. Even though he will be greatly missed, his legacy of love will live on through his family.

Gene leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of sixty-three years, Martha Moore Pierce; his son, Randy Pierce and wife, Cammie of Clinton, daughter, Pamela P. Hodges and husband, Mickey of Dunn; two grandchildren: Jamie Pierce and wife, Amanda, Heather Whitman and husband, Christopher; great-granddaughter, Aubrey Pierce; three step-grandchildren: Michele Simmons, Morgan Matthews, Christy Pope; four step great-grandchildren: Macy Simmons, Brantley Matthews, Payton Matthews and Whitleigh Pope; and also, his special sister-in-law, Mary Brown Mattocks and her daughter, Jessica Ezzell and her fiancee', Todd Conard.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Billy Pierce; sister, Clara Hagan; foster parents: Mr. & Mrs. Pete Casteen and a foster brother, Durwood Casteen.
