Wyoming County Times-June 19, 1947

Mrs. May L. Curtis, 76 of Lakeville, widow of the late George E. Curtis died on June 12, 1947 at the Genesee Memorial Hospital in Batavia. Mrs. Curtis was born at Oramel, NY on March 4, 1871 daughter of Julius and Augusta Ford. On March 22, 1888, she married Mr. Curtis who died on September 20, 1939.

For the past few months she has resided with her daughter Mrs. George Kingsley of Covington. She was a member of the Lakeville Community church.

Besides her daughter she is survived by four sons, George of Le Roy, Clarence of Lakeville, Carlyle of Arcade, Ernest of Le Roy and two other daughters, Mrs. R.R. De La Vergne of Le Roy and Mrs. G.R. McGowan of Bliss; two sons Lester and Glenn died in infancy; a sister Mrs. Mima Marvin of Sacramento, CA., a brother Glenn Ford of Bliss; nine grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.

The funeral services were held at 2 o'clock on June 15 from the Kingsley home in Covington with Rev. Robert Lester of the Lakeville Community church and Rev. E.V. Osterhaut of the Pavilion Baptist church officiating. Interment was in the Wethersfield Cemetery at Smith Corners.

The bearers were three grandsons, Howard De La Vergne of Rochester, Lloyd Schroeder of Wyoming and Robert Schroeder of Perry; three nephews Keith Ford of Rushford, Leonard Ford of Warsaw and Everett Ford of Silver Springs.

The floral tributes were many and beautiful; among them were pieces from the Wernett Company of Hemlock, Social Rebekah Lodge of Bliss, officers and employees of the Citizen Bank of Arcade, Pavilion Baptist church, employees of the Wrought Iron Works of Hemlock, Lapp Insulator of Le Roy, Lakeville Ladies Aid, Lakeville neighbors and may from friends, relatives and neighbors of the various families.
