...Erma Mabel Calef, 73, of La Plata died at 5:14 Sunday afternoon (July 1, 1984) in the Regional Hospital in Columbia where she had been a patient since June 4.
...Born February 22, 1911, near Huron, South Dakota, she was the daughter of Fred and Carrie Grunwalk Ziegler. On May 13, 1933, in Brashear, she was married to Paul Ewell Calef and to this marriage four children were born.
...Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Weslie (Evelyn) Wellborn of Kirksville; three sons, LaVerne Calef of Lawrence, Kansas and Paul Junior Calef and Robert Calef, both of La Plata; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
...She was preceded in death by her mother in 1958, her father in 1981, her husband in 1977 and one brother, Harold Zeigler in 1930.
...Mrs. Calef moved from Illinois to Missouri with her parents in February 1929. Most of her life was spent in the Gibbs and La Plata area.
...She was a member of the La Plata Christian Church.
...Funeral services will be held at 1:30 Thursday afternoon (July 5, 1984) in the Pollock Funeral Chapel, La Plata. The Rev. Archie Cooper of Kirksville, will conduct the services. Music will be provided by Rosina Berry, organist, and Trudy Pollock, soloist. Selections will be: "In The Garden" and " The Old Rugged Cross." Burial will be in the La Plata Cemetery.
