Wallace R. Blake, widely known former Marshalltown resident, died suddenly while at work in a Pasadena, Calif. shopping center promotion of "Wally Blake Organized Excitement" from an apparent heart attack Saturday. Funeral services will be held Wednesday in Culver City, Calif., with burial in the Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, Calif. Born July 5, 1920 in Marshalltown, he was the son of Stella and Oral W. Blake, who survive. He married Ruth I. Finders of Ferguson on June 17, 1940 at Montour. They had been making their home in Los Angelos for the past several years. Mr. Blake was a 1938 graduate of Marshalltown High School. While still in high school, he promoted and managed the first model airplane contest in Iowa, held on the old Niederhouser airstrip here. He was announcer for KWWL-TV and radio in Waterloo, was employed by Allis Chalmers in Charles City, and was owner-editor of Norway and Gilman newspapers before organizing his own promotion company in Culver City. He returned to Marshalltown briefly a few years ago to promote the Central Iowa Fair. He was a member of the Church of Christ. In addition to his wife, survivors include three daughters. Judith.(Mrs. Richard) Kissel, Culver City; Kathryn (Mrs. Clinton) Trout Jr., Chino, Calif.; Linda (Mrs. Wendell) Pepperdine, Creswell. Ore., one son, David, at home, and six grandchildren. Mr. Blake is also survived by five brothers: Walter of Schaller; Roger, Sterling, Colo. ; Allen, LuVerne: Donald, Milan, Mich., and Gary. Fayetteville.
