The 1880 Census indicated Clara Ellen Farrell was born at Troy in Rensselaer County, New York, however, the 1900 Census stated she was born in Michigan. When the 1920 Census was taken, Clara was a widow, living on Virginia Park in Detroit, Wayne, Michigan with her two teenage daughters, Caroline and Ellen. Although employed, her occupation and her employer's name could not be deciphered. By1930, Clara was living with her youngest daughter, Ellen, and her son-in-law, Donald Sawvel. She was employed as a clerk for the board of education and her marital status was a widow.
According to her death certificate, Clara died of Apoplexy.
