Elisabeth was born in Switzerland. She married Friedrick Burkhardt and was the mother of 13 children. 4 would die young and be buried in Switzerland. The family joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints in July 1877 and eventually all surviving (9) children, Elisabeth and Friedrick would immigrate to Salt Lake City, Utah. After living in Cherry Creek, Idaho with Friedrick for many years, the two would eventually move to Salt Lake City before dying there.
