Mr. Wachter was a native of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., and retired from Atlantic Richfield Company in 1973.
Survivors include a daughter, Maxine W. Wood of Hampton; two sisters, Lucille Himes of Winchester and Emily Scott of California; and two brothers, George Wachter of Dundalk, Md., and Paul Wayne Wachter of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Wythe Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Kenneth E. Boyer. The family will receive friends at 120 Wythe Parkway following the service.
Burial will be in Greenway Cemetery, Berkeley Springs.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Wythe Rescue Squad.
