Statesboro - Dr. John L. Jackson, 82, died Wednesday at Bulloch Memorial Hospital after a long illness. The Juliette, Ga., native had lived in Statesboro since 1938 and was a retired dentist, having retired July 1 after suffering a stroke. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a Mason and a Shriner. He was a member of several dental associations and was a member of the Statesboro First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Veleta P. Jackson, Statesboro; one daughter, Bobbie Ann Jackson, Statesboro; one son, John M. Jackson, Waynesboro; one step-daughter, Roslyn Edwards, Macon; one step-son, John Rawls, Macon; two sisters, Thelma P. Adams, Statesboro, and Elsie Dawkins, Louisiana; one brother, Dr. Hiram Jackson, Milledgeville; and several grandchildren.

The funeral will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Statesboro First United Methodist Church with Dr. Don Adams officiating. Burial will be in Eastside Cemetery.
