Abner Ervin
1804 - 1898

Abner Ervin was the second child and oldest son, of Edward and Celia Susan Bonner Ervin. He was born the 9th day of December 1804 in the same town he would spend the remainder of his life, Richlands, Onslow, North Carolina.

In about 1824, he married Molcy Basden, daughter of Jesse Baisden, her mother at this writing has yet to be positively identified (despite theories). She was also born and raised in Onslow County.

Abner made his living as a farmer/landowner, a fairly well known one in Onslow County. He and Molcy had six children together, all lived to adulthood, which is an incredible feat and a blessing for the time.

Abner lived a long life of 93 years. His beloved Molcy passed on 21 years before he did, he was also preceded in death by his son, William Leonard.

The Ervin and Basden (Baisden) families played a large and significant role in the prosperity of Onslow County. A family cemetery was named for Abner on the original property in Richlands, well maintained and still owned by Ervin family at this writing.
