Gertrude M. Bacon, 83, of Waterville, died Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2002, at the Oak Grove Living Center. She was born March 31, 1919, in Unity, a daughter of George and Mertie (Mitchell) Reynolds, and was educated in Unity schools. On Jan. 22, 1941, she married Erland P. Bacon Sr. in Unity.
Prior to her retirement in 1983, she worked as a breakfast cook for Colby College.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Maurice, Alton, and Ivan Reynolds; and her sister, Iva Rines.

Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Erland P. Bacon Sr. of Waterville; her five sons, Erland P. Jr. and his wife, Alayne of Oakland, Charles and his wife, Sheila of Greene, Robert and his fiance, Nathalie of Waterville, Wendell and his wife, Laura of Dixfield, Sheldon and his wife, Kelli of Reading, Mass.; two sisters-in-law, Beulah Reynolds and Frances Pooler; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
