Obituary from the Shreveport Times newspaper, Jan. 26, 2011:

SHREVEPORT, LA – Graveside services celebrating the life of Lester R. Anderson, 87, will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 27, 2011, at Antioch Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery, Quitman, LA with full military honors. Officiating will be Rev. Robert Tyler and Rev. Jerry Shelton.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday evening at Rose-Neath Marshall Street Funeral Home.

Lester was born August 1, 1923 and passed away Sunday, January 23, 2011. He was of Presbyterian faith. Lester served his country proudly with the U.S. Navy in WWII. He was an Electrician's Mate Third Class on the USS Neches. Lester retired after many years of service with Libby Owens Ford.

His parents, Lester R. Anderson, Sr. and Allie Bam Nix Anderson, sister, Nell Anderson Weems, and brother, James Lamar Anderson, preceded Lester in death. Beautiful memories will be cherished by his loving wife of 65 years, Helen Liles Anderson; sisters, Geraldine Womack and Zora E. Tinsley; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends; and his faithful canine companion, Shadow. Lester will be missed dearly.
