Son of the late Ortis 'Zacha' and Abbie Abigail 'Abbie' Burch Ashford.

His early years were spent in Colorado, Arkansas and Joplin, Mo. At an early adult age he moved to Iowa with his mother and they made their home with his uncle Dick and Jack Burch. His entire adult life has been spent in Page County around the Braddyville area, moving to Braddyville, IA in 1934.

Pete married to Grace Anderson of Braddyville, IA on 22 Sep 1924. To this union 5 children were born.

Eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren, 10 step grandchildren.

Pete's working years were with Paris Dunn Mfg plant in Clarinda, county maintenance work and as a trucker, until he was forced to retire due to his health.

His hobby in later years was spent in doing leather handcraft, of which he was very skillful, his work was sold through out a wide area and friends will remember him yet, by using products he has made. He was always busy at his workbench, took great pride in the finished product and always had a cheery greeting for all.

He will be greatly missed by his family, other relatives and many friends.

Betty Hull conducted the services and burial was in Braddyville Cemetery.
