Gilbert "LeRoy" Lemon, 74, passed away surrounded by his family at UAMS Health Center Thursday night, March 17, 2011. He was born in Broken Arrow, OK to Ray and Dessie Lemon and was the 5th of 6 children.

He is survived by his wife Nancy Lemon of Russellville Arkansas and four children: Jim Lemon and wife Michelle and four children, Jayme and Jordan Lemon and Stephanie and Weston Barker, Jerry Lemon and wife Kristen and their child Baylee Crosby- Lemon, Gibby Lemon and wife Ana and two children, Sofia and Dylan Lemon , Tami Ketchum and husband Scott and two children Emily Austin and Kennedy Ketchum.

LeRoy earned his Mechanical Engineering Degree from Oklahoma State University. LeRoy was known for his outstanding leadership in the many companies he operated. Professionally he developed and operated Perkins Automatic Sprinkler Company, Perfection Fire Control, SouthGate Properties, Space World Mini Storage, Space World Business Record Management, and Space World Moving and Storage. He was President of the Arkansas Builders and Contractors, President of the national Pipe Fitters Association, and President of the Arkansas Self Storage Association.

LeRoy was well known for his charitable passion. He was a 32nd degree Mason. He was twice named "Citizen of the Year" by the Kiwanis Club of Russellville. Pope County declared "LeRoy Lemon Day" on December 19, 1994 for his efforts in orchestrating the process of opening the 911 call center for Pope County by passing the ordinance for opening of the center, over-seeing the process of building the facility and operating the center during its inception. LeRoy also managed the Group Work Camp which provided work for local citizens to participate in remodeling homes for people in the Russellville community. LeRoy was dedicated to managing his Family Reunion for the last 20 years.

LeRoy served in the Navy in the Korean war. LeRoy was passionate about the Arkansas Razorbacks and was involved in the Razorback Scholarship Program. He was a member of the "Elite Pig Teet" Cooking Team which won many awards in national cooking contests. LeRoy led by example and experienced a full life as a wonderful husband, dedicated father, giving grandfather and leader of the community in business and charity.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Sunday March 20th at Humphrey Funeral Service in Russellville. The funeral will be held Monday morning at 10:00am at First United Methodist Church in Russellville. The graveside services will be at 4:00pm at Park Grove Cemetery in Broken Arrow Oklahoma.
