Ulysses Grant Silvers, 75, of 322 North Mulberry St., proprietor of the Mecca Cigar Store, died at 4 a.m. Friday at Ball Hospital, following a brief illness.

Mr. Silvers was born in Jay County near Ridgeville. He had been engaged as a clothing merchant at Portland for 18 years, and came to Muncie 36 years ago. He was a charter and life-long member of the Portland K. of P. Lodge.

Surviving are the daughter, Mrs. Modjeska Ketterman, Muncie; a son, H. Rex Silvers, Toledo; a grandson, Sylvan Ketterman, and a great grandchild, Sylvan Rees Ketterman, both of Chicago; a brother, Sherman Silvers of Goshen; and two sisters, Mrs. Christina Neeley of Farmland, and Mrs. Viola Wise of Ridgeville.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Meeks Mortuary. Burial will be in Beech Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the residence after noon Saturday or at the mortuary an hour preceding the service.
