Micajah grew to manhood in Hardinsburg, Kentucky and was called to serve his country on Nov. 27, 1901, he was stationed in the Philippine Islands and discharged in 1904. He returned to Hardinsburg for farming and marrying Annie Eliza Meadow.
Micajah followed work from farming in Illinois to levee building in Port Allen, La. The family moved around a lot until they settled in Blue Springs, Mo.
