Millard was the only child of Elmer Ray Aleshire and Mildred Cummings Aleshire. He lived all his life in the Grays Harbour area. He was married to Marian Lorna Bailey and they had three sons, Ronald Lee Aleshire (Killed in Viet Nam), Dennis Lyn Aleshire, and Brian Millard Aleshire.

Millard was killed in a car accident leaving the birthday party for his oldest son Ron. The youngest Brian only 3 1/2 years old at the time.

Millard went to Weatherwax high school where he met Marian.
