KNEPPER – Abraham “Abe,” 83, Johnstown, formerly of Davidsville, died March 28, 2008, at Windber Hospice. Born Jan. 21, 1925, in Croyle Twp., son of Abraham and Elsie (Eppley) Knepper. Preceded in death by parents; wife of 60 years, the former Geraldine Lohr; sisters, Esther Helsel, Geraldine Eppley, Madalan Sikirica and Fay Langnau; brother, Frank Knepper; and stepfather, Orange Cramer. Survived by children, Cheryl, married to William Baxendale, Johnstown; Roger Knepper, Johnstown; Janice, married to Frank Temyer, Mechanicsburg; Jodi, married to Paul Parlock II, Washington, Pa.; and Craig Knepper, Albion; grandchildren, Kym, married to Ryan Weisberg, Camp Hill; Paul Parlock III, Louisville, Ky.; Kristin Temyer, Wormleysburg; Jessica, married to Bryson Lewis, Washington, Pa.; Hannah Parlock, Washington, Pa.; Shayna Knepper, Johnstown; Mary Parlock, Washington, Pa.; and Stacey Knepper, Johnstown; and great-granddaughter, Lileana Lewis. Brother of Tharon Adams, Mineral Point; Elaine Rummel, Mineral Point; Clifford, married to the former LaVada Staley, Peoria, Ill.; Violet (Cramer), married to Monroe Bracken, Belsano; Alice (Cramer), married to Ray Braddee, Tucson, Ariz.; and Lynn (Cramer), married to the former Ronna Frick, Pasadena, Md. Also survived by former daughter-in-law, Gail (Stevanus) Knepper, Johnstown; sister-in-law, Dorothy (Lohr), widow of Robert Eppley, Davidsville; and numerous nieces and nephews. A U.S. Marine veteran of World War II. Retired accounting clerk for Bethlehem Steel Corp. with 37 years of service. Founding board member of St. Francis Sharing and Caring, Hollsopple. Former president of Tableland Inc., Somerset, and a former Boy Scout leader in Davidsville. Member of Maple Spring Church of the Brethren, Hollsopple, where he and his wife both served as deacons, board members, Sunday school teachers, custodians, and were members of the senior citizens. Abe was also a former youth adviser for the church. Former member of the Connumach Lions Club, Davidsville. Abe and Geraldine were also members of the Rise and Stride Walkers Club. He was an avid gardener and also enjoyed traveling. Viewing from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Hoffman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 109 Church Road, Davidsville. Viewing also from 1 p.m. until time of service, 2 p.m. Tuesday at Maple Spring Church, the Rev. Robert Thacker, officiating. Interment, church cemetery, with military rites by the Conemaugh Valley Marine Corps League.
