Elizabeth "Eliza" Ann Alsup was born in Hardeman County, Tennessee and was the daughter of Thomas Alsup and his second wife when Elizabeth was born. Thomas Alsup was in the War of 1812 and served in the military of both Virginia and Tennessee and was awarded land in Lawrence County, Tennessee for his services.

Elizabeth married Isaac Phips Russell on September 24, 1828 in Hardeman County, Tennessee and they were the parents of nine children; Amanda Melvina, Ellen Minerva, Thomas Jefferson, Emma Palina, Saline F, unknow where buried, America Orleana, Christopher Columbus, Anna Missouri and Frances Cordelia Russell.

Isaac Phips Russell died on July 22, 1883 and "Eliza" moved to Brown County, Texas to live with her son and daughter-in-law, Thomas Jefferson and Cleopatra Leanora (Donnell) Russell.
Thomas Jefferson and Cleopatra Leanora Russell separated but Elizabeth continued to live in Brown County. Supposedly, Roland Russell once told Claudie Welch that after they had separated, Thomas Jefferson went to live with other children in Karnes County. Isaac Phips Russell died in Texas somewhere on Texas cenus in Lamar Precint 7 census 1880 3 Years before he died. 1880 cenus listed: Russell Isaac age 59 birth year 1801 -Eliza A 46 - M E age 23 - Pauline E 18 - O A 13 C C 11 - Missouria 9 - Celinia F Home is Johnson City Post Office Rock Creek Farmer.
