COLUMBIA, Jan. 5. — Jack J. Butler, 76 years old and a native of Caldwell parish, died in Riverview sanitarium yesterday morning at four o'clock, after a long illness. The deceased established a home about two miles from the place of his birth in the western part of ward four of Caldwell parish, immediately after his marriage to Miss Eliza Curry in the year 1875, and he lived there constantly until about three weeks ago when he was brought to Riverview sanitarium for treatment for an illness of long standing.

He is survived by his wife and three brothers, Dr. T. M. Butler of Trout, La.; Houston Butler of Clarks, La.; and Jesse Butler of Riverton, La.

Interment was made today in Old Bethel cemetery at 10 a.m.
