Hal was born in Tucson, AZ, on April 5, 1925, and died at his home on September 13, 2010 at the age of 85.

He is survived by his wife, Lela Carpenter Abegg, sisters Norma Sullivan and Gwen Cowley, and children Pene Wendell of Fair Oaks, CA, Sandi Abegg of Ontario, OR., Hal V. Abegg II of Portland, OR., and Julie D. Labrum of Salt Lake City, UT. Hal also leaves 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his brothers Dean, Joseph, Lothair, and Myrlon Abegg, as well as his daughter Sharon Marino and grandson Ryan Wendell.

Major influences during the last 15 years of his life were the children of his wife, Lela: Sue Lucas, Janice Seever, Cathy Thompson, and Robert, Mark and Russ Carpenter. We will remember him for his wit and dry humor; his passion for Arizona, flying, photography, family history, and music - but most of all, how he treasured his wife and family. Memories of our life experiences with him will always be cherished.
