Mary Agnes Hancock, 81, died peacefully Sunday, Nov.11, 2007 at home, surrounded by family.


Mary was born March 15, 1926 in Dayton, Tenn. to Virgil and Birdie (Couch) Chadwick. She attended school in Dayton. She married James Junior Adams in 1942. That marriage lasted until his death in 1958. Marry married James Kenneth Hancock in 1964. After 25 years of marriage they renewed their vows. The were married 35 years until his passing in 2000.
Many years ago Mary worked in a nursing home and a laundromat. She then, she has been a homemaker. She also did volunteer work at Mercy Pavilion. She enjoyed her garden, flowers, feeding the birds and spending time with her family. When she and James had their motorhome, they enjoyed traveling and camping.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husbands James Junior Adams and James Kenneth Hancock; brothers Bob, Lloyd, Hollis and Arthur of Mo., and infant brothers Ralph and Earl Chadwick, Tenn.; infant son Richard Allen Adams; grandson Jody Martin Rizor and great-grandson Austin Terry.
She is survived by her children, Mary Sue Rizor, Bill (Katy) Adams, Sarah Adams, Jim (Gayle) Adams, Linda Wilkins, Danny Adams and Rocky Adams all of Battle Creek, and Larry (Ruth Ann) Adams of Odessa, Mo. She is also survived by step-daughters, Pearl Fox of Tenn. and Anita Boyd of Ala.; her step-children, 17 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.
She also leaves her brothers Luther "Luke" (Alma) Chadwick of Tenn., Rev. Floyd (Jean) Chadwick of Battle Creek, and sisters-in-law Faye Chadwick, Lois Chadwick, Mary Jane Operle and Mary Chadwick.
Visitation was from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday at Royal Funeral Home. Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2007, at Royal Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Hopper officiating. Mary was carried to her final resting place by her children and her two brothers at Hicks Cemetery in Pennfield, to rest beside her husband.

Mary was a sweet, lovable, caring, giving and devoted mother. We will miss her so very much. She was baptized at home in 2006 by her brothers Luther and Rev. Floyd Chadwick.
