He was born March 8, 1928, in Dayton, Tennessee to the late Virgil and Birdie (Couch) Chadwick.
Luther retired from Kellogg Community College and Meyer Bus services. Luther spent three years in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and served three years in the U.S. Air Force in Amarillo, Texas.
In May 2002, Luther wed Alma (Buckner) Cox.
He is preceded in death by; brothers, Bob, Floyd, Arthur, Lloyd, Hollis, Ralph and Earl Chadwick; a sister Agnes Hancock and an infant son, Richard Chadwick.
Luther is survived by; his wife, Alma Chadwick of Battle Creek; son, Larry (Ann) Chadwick, of Soddy Daisy, TN; daughters, Sharon Powell and Carolyn (Bruce) Brown, all of Battle Creek; step-children; Kathy Banaszak, Phyllis Cox, Russell (Debbie) Cox, all of Battle Creek, Paulette Julien of Grand Rapids; nine grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, several step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family members.
In years past, Luther enjoyed riding motorcycles, traveling in his RV, yard work, driving the church bus, doing repairs at the church, played the guitar and worked in prison ministry. He also liked working word puzzles and spending time with family and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at The Potter's House Church, 226 Capital Ave. NE in Battle Creek with a time of visitation one hour prior. Full military honors will be held at Ft. Custer National Cemetery on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m.
