Jeanne May Aldridge was born in the Gay Hill community, and was a lifelong resident. She was a graduate of Johns Hospital School of Nursing in Taylor, and was a licensed vocational nurse for 20 years, serving the Rockdale and Taylor areas. She and Vernon Aldridge were married Aug. 29, 1940, in Rockdale. Mrs. Aldridge was an artist and sculptress. Other interests included gardening, flowers and travel. One of her travel essays was a first-place winner during her school years. She died in Richards Memorial Hospital in Rockdale at the age of 76. Services were held Monday, May 29, in St. Joseph's Catholic Church with burial in I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Rev. Victor Mathias officiated. Survivors include her husband of Gay Hill; a sister; a niece of Houston; two great nephews. Rockdale Reporter. May 26, 1995
