Robert Emmett Strouss was the son of John Strouss and Mary Addie Campbell. He married Velma Cauthon on September 26, 1916 at Walnut, Bureau County, Illinois; together they had six children: Robert Edward, Marvin L., Marjorie M., Velma Jeanne, Charles Emmett and Lloyd Franklin.

Married - Cauthon - Strouss
On Tuesday evening, September 26, 1916, at seven o'clock, occurred the marriage of Mr. Emmett Strouss of Walnut, Illinois, to Miss Belle Couthon of Wyanet, Illinois, at the Walnut Christian parsonage, Rev. F. H. DeVol officiating. The couple were attended by Mr. and Mrs. Guy Larson of this place.
The groom is the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. John Strouss, prominent citizens of Walnut, and is an industrious and worthy young man who has grown to manhood in Walnut and has many friends who will join with us in congratulations and best wishes for himself and young bride, who is a stranger in our midst.

Robert E. Strouss, aged 37, of 611 Homewild avenue, died at Foote Hospital Saturday evening. Surviving besides a wife are six children, Robert, Marvin, Marjorie, Jean, Junior, and Lloyd; six brothers and one sister. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at Patience Chapel and burial at Woodlawn Cemetery.

Robert Emmett Strouss Called In Death
Robert Emmett Strouss, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Strouss, was born in Champaign, Illinois, June 21, 1892, and passed away on February 22, 1930, in Jackson, Michigan, where he had resided for the past seven years. His death was caused by pneumonia.
Besides his wife and six children, he leaves his aged father, several brothers and a sister to mourn his departure from this life. His father, John Strouss of Walnut and brothers John of Tampico and Alva of Chicago attended the funeral, which was held Tuesday.
