Heart Attack Fatal to Prominent Young's Creek Community Resident

James William Lash, age 75, passed away Sunday afternoon about 12:20 o'clock at his home South of Franklin on the Mauxferry Road. He had been taken ill Saturday with an attack of angina pectoris but he was not considered seriously ill as he was up and around the house some Saturday and also Sunday. Sunday morning he went to the barn and about thirty minutes before death came he laid down to rest and said he did not want any dinner. Death came suddenly and without any warning.
Mr. Lash was born on the old Lash farm in Blue River Township in 1853. He was the son of Samuel and Susan Pierce Lash. He lived his entire life in the Young's Creek neighborhood. He and Miss Martha Caroline Drake, of Nokomis, Illinois, were married in 1875. Mrs. Lash survives her husband. He is also survived by two sons, Everett, who lives at home, and Lee of Dayton, Ohio, and one brother, David Lash. Three sisters preceded Mr. Lash in death. Two grand daughters, Mrs. Leon Vandivier and Mrs. Joseph Barnhizer, who made their home with Mr. and Mrs. Lash after the death of their mother, also survive. A great granddaughter, Joanne Barnhizer, brought much happiness to Mr. Lash.
"Billy" Lash, as he was known to his neighbors and friends, had a wide circle of friends who mourn his passing. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Young's Creek Christian church with burial in the Hamner cemetery South of Franklin. Services will be in charge of the Rev. Ray Bozell, a former pastor of the Young's creek church.
Mr. Lash was not a member of any church or lodge but he was a regular attendant and contributor to the Young's Creek church where Mrs. Lash was a member.
