On reaching her side Doolittle was clasped about the neck by Mrs. Jackson and both sank to the bottom.
Mrs. Jackson, however, rose again and by some means managed to reach shore but Doolittle did not rise. His body was recovered shortly after the accident and conveyed to Clarks in the afternoon where it will be in interred.

Mr. Doolittle's marriage record & census records indicate that he was born ~ 1865-1868. He married Martha Alice Baker on April 20, 1889 in Butler County, MO.
