Funeral services were held Monday for James C. Chewning, 29-year-old Childress feed salesman, who was killed almost instantly last Sunday morning when his car smashed into a railroad underpass abutment near Carey.
Burial was in Childress cemetery.
Chewning is survived by his wife; a daughter, Paulette, 6, and a son, Robert Lloyd, 3; his mother, Mrs. R.H. Chewning of Cee Vee; three brothers, Dudley, of Paducah; Wade, of Amarillo, and Harold, of Plainview; two sisters, Mrs. W.E. Hoffman of Cee Vee and Mrs. Dorothy Seitzberg of Amarillo; one half-brother, Grady Rhea of Paris and one half-sister, Mrs. Kenneth Herrin of Lake Creek.
